How to upgrade or cancel your plan
How to upgrade your plan
Section titled “How to upgrade your plan”- Go to Settings in the left navigation
- Click Billing
- Click Change plan
- Select the plan you want to move to
- Confirm the change
Your new plan takes effect immediately. You’ll only be charged for the difference between plans — we calculate this on a pro-rata basis for the remaining days in your current billing period.
If you’re currently on a free Foundation account, upgrading moves you onto a paid plan and billing starts immediately. There’s no delay, no deferred start date, and no trial period on an upgrade — your card is charged when you confirm the change. The 14-day free trial runs before you upgrade, not after: it’s how you try a paid plan without entering card details, and choosing to upgrade ends it early. See Free trial and when billing starts below.
How to downgrade your plan
Section titled “How to downgrade your plan”You can downgrade to a lower plan at any time. The change takes effect at the start of your next billing period — you keep your current features until then.
When you downgrade, any features not included in the lower plan will become read-only. For example, if you downgrade from Professional to Starter:
- Existing clients and CDD records are preserved (read-only where they exceed Starter limits)
- White-label settings will be deactivated on new verification links
- The SMR Drafting Assistant will no longer be available for new drafts
Your compliance records are never deleted when you downgrade — they remain stored for the full 7-year retention period regardless of your plan.
How to cancel
Section titled “How to cancel”- Go to Settings > Billing
- Click Cancel subscription
- Confirm the cancellation
Your subscription stays active until the end of your current billing period, then moves to Foundation (free). You keep all your records.
We don’t delete your data when you cancel. If you return later, your records will be waiting for you.
Free trial and when billing starts
Section titled “Free trial and when billing starts”Paid plans (Starter, Professional, Agency) include a 14-day free trial with no credit card needed to start. Billing begins immediately when your trial ends, or when you upgrade to a paid plan, whichever happens first — upgrading ends the trial early and you’re charged at that moment, not at the end of the 14 days. You’re then charged monthly (or annually, if you chose annual billing) until you change or cancel.
Foundation is different — it’s free for up to 5 clients, for as long as you want it, and is never billed.
You can see your current plan and any upcoming billing dates on the Billing page in Settings.
A note on our launch offer: AML Simple ran a free period on all paid plans from launch until 1 July 2026, the date AUSTRAC Tranche 2 obligations commenced. That offer ended on 1 July 2026 and is no longer available. The terms above are what applies today.
30-day refund guarantee
Section titled “30-day refund guarantee”If you’re not satisfied within the first 30 days of your first paid billing period, contact us at billing@amlsimple.com for a full refund, no questions asked.
Annual billing
Section titled “Annual billing”If you’re on annual billing, your subscription renews each year. You can cancel at any time — we then stop charging your card from the following year onwards, and your plan stays active until the end of the current annual period.
Annual billing is approximately 30% cheaper than monthly billing (equivalent to ~4 months free).
